Update, March 25
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on March 24, the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) located the body of Mark NEVINS.
A post mortem examination will be conducted as the investigation into the cause of death continues.
Update, March 24, 10:45 a.m.:
Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were notified by members of the public who noticed a vehicle parked in the area of Power Point Road in Bracebridge, ON that matched the description of one related to a missing person investigation, Mark NEVINS from Huntsville, ON. Officers attended the area and confirmed that it was the same vehicle last that Mr. NEVINS was with. Officers did not find anyone with the vehicle and immediately commenced a search of the area around the hydro dam and river with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit.
The search is continuing today with the assistance of the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU). Members of the public are asked to stay away from that area in order that a full search can be conducted.
The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is continuing its search for a missing person, 57-year-old Mark Nevins and is asking for the public’s assistance.
Mark was last in contact with his family on March 21, 2022 and was last known to be in Huntsville also on March 21, 2022.
Nevins is described as being, 6′ 0″ tall, with short brown hair. He is driving a white, 2021 Mitsubishi RVR, Ontario licence plate: CTLP 891
