Premier Doug Ford today confirmed that Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, has accepted the premier’s advice to sign a proclamation dissolving the 43rd Parliament of the Province of Ontario, effective as of 4:00 p.m. today.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Election Act, the Lieutenant Governor also called for the issuance of writs for the general election to be issued January 29, 2025, and named February 27, 2025, as the date of Ontario’s next general election.

Why are we wasting public funds on an election that is not called for?
Booo! He has a majority for almost two years, no need for an election to get a “mandate”. I hope people see through a politically-timed motivation and toss him out or leave him with a minority. For the time being, just as the shite may be hitting the fan , we have no Premier. What kind of leadership is that?
