Nicholas (Nick) Hay, 80, of Huntsville, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 17, 2024.
Nick was born on January 21, 1944, in Edinburgh, Scotland. On October 4, 1963, Nick and Beatrice were married. In 1969, they emigrated to Canada with their two small children, Suzanne, aged five, and Stephen, aged two, making a new life together in Toronto. As a family, they enjoyed camping in Huntsville so much that they moved there in 1976, creating a warm and welcoming home.
Nick had a lifelong passion for music and proudly played the drum in the Cameron of Lochiel Pipes and Drums – Huntsville band for more than 40 impressive years. He enjoyed teaching new members his passion for playing the drum. As a member of the Stephenson District Lions Club, Nick enjoyed serving and improving his community.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice; his sister, Eileen McDonald; daughter, Suzanne Ambrosio (Dan Gravelle); son, Stephen Hay (Michaela); and cherished grandchildren, Christopher Pincivero, Lucas Hay, and Maggie Hay. Nick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Stephenson District Lions Club at stephensonlions.ca or Hospice Huntsville at hospicehuntsville.com in Nick’s memory.
Nick will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Grandpa,
I was dreading the idea of losing you for a long time. It has taken time to process and it really hurts. You were always my biggest cheerleader in this world, even during the lowest lows. You wouldn’t want us to be upset, but your celebration of life will be an emotional event that we will get through as a family.
The summers of my youth spent with you and Nana in Huntsville are among the happiest memories of my entire life. I cherish those memories eternally and I wish that I could go back and relive them.
I am happy that we were able to have some lovely visits together over the past few years, but I regret not making it up north over the years as often as I should have. Life can be cruel and unpredictable.
Braveheart was one of our favourite films that we shared together. We will be watching it in your honour and thinking of you.
Love you forever and always,
