NDMNRF seeking owners of abandoned ice hut on Mary Lake

The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (NDMNRF) is asking the for the public’s help with identifying the individuals responsible for unlawfully leaving their fishing hut and garbage on the ice in Muskoka.

On April 1, 2022, conservation officers responded to a tip from a member of the public regarding a fishing hut that had been abandoned on Mary Lake near the town of Huntsville, just off North Mary Lake Road. (See map below.)

Officers believe the fishing hut was placed at that location near the end of February.

If you have any information that will assist conservation officers in their investigation, please call the ministry TIPS line toll free at 1-877-847-7667 or contact your local ministry office. You can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Conservation officers remind everyone that anglers must remove their huts by March 31 in Fisheries Management Zone 15.
