Muskoka Loppet returns January 26

Submitted by the Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club

A team of volunteers is gearing up for the annual Muskoka Loppet. This year, the event will take place on Sunday, January 26, at Arrowhead Provincial Park.

The Muskoka Loppet is a cross-country ski event, in the classic style of skiing (no skating). The distances include a 5 km course for “social skiers” and children, and more challenging 15 and 30 km courses for recreational and competitive skiers.

This loppet is always very popular in the world of cross-country skiing and is seen as a very friendly event. Consider taking part in this family-friendly event, even if you are not an experienced skier. The emphasis of a loppet is on fun!

Holding a weather-dependent event is always a challenge. Snow and normal winter temperatures are in the long-range forecast and the organizers are confident this will be a great event again this year.

You must register online by January 23 as no registrations will be accepted after that date. To register, visit arrowheadnordic.ca.

If you would like to volunteer for a few hours, please contact Michele Schwemmer at [email protected] or call 705-224-4912. Help is needed at registration, along the course, at the finish line and at the food stations.
