Marion Helen Nickalls

May 15th, 1939 – February 23rd, 2024

In the warmth of her own home, surrounded by family, Marion Helen Nickalls passed away on February 23rd, 2024.

Marion and Bill were married on January 28th, 1961. Our parents spent many years travelling and enjoying their life together. We take great comfort in knowing that they are now together again.

Mom will be deeply missed by her children Lee Anne (Darrell), Lori (John), Karen (Steve), and Grant (Debbie).  Adored by her grandchildren Brendan (Meagan), Megan (Russel), Tyler (Jenna), Brayden,  Tanner (Michelle), Jack, Ryan (Kristie), Lauren (Josh), and Kristen (Chris).  A special G.G. to Harper, Lillian, William, Lauchlin, Ciarin, Clarke, Cooper, and Noah.

Marion was a cherished sister to Angela and predeceased by her brother Edwin.

Remembered fondly by her extended family and friends.

Mom was born in Huntsville on May 15th, 1939.  She attended school in Huntsville and graduated from nursing training in Orillia in 1960.  Although Mom retired from nursing in 1970 she continued to provide care for others with kindness and compassion throughout her life.

Mom touched many lives through her community work as she was always willing to step in and help; whether it be feeding children at breakfast club, baking for church functions, or driving people to appointments. Mom’s love and dedication to her family, friends, and community were evident daily. She was a supportive friend to so many and cherished each of those relationships. Her door was always open and she welcomed everyone.

Regardless of what was going on in Mom’s life, her inner strength always shone through and she lived life to its fullest.

Our family is grateful for the excellent care and compassion received from the staff at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (Huntsville), The Hope Huntsville Palliative Team, Home and Community Care, Closing the Gap, and Paramed.

Visitation will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville on Friday, March 1st, from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Service will be held at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 30 High Street, Huntsville, on Saturday, March 2nd, at 11 am.

Family and friends are invited to The Mill on Main, immediately following the service, 50 Main St. E., Huntsville,  from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

As a nurse, Mom’s life revolved around helping others, therefore donations to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care) or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Mom, you will be deeply missed.

Such a dedicated Lady, Marion was always willing to help us at the Parish Hall serving at Teas, Bazaars, and Dinner Theatres, she would show up and say”;tell me what you want done and I will help” and that she did staying to help out cleaning up. She was a Lady you could rely on. Will miss you Marion but now you are.with Bill

My deepest sympathy to all of Marion’s family. She was the epitome of grace, kindness and dignity.
I had the pleasure of evenings with Bill and Marion and their bond was obvious to all. As with my own parents I understand the comfort of knowing that they are together.
I was on vacation at the beginning of covid and on return, was quarantined for two weeks. I answered the knock at my door and there was Marion with groceries to tide me over. The year prior, I asked Marion to come and look at my mom as she was very sick. She advised me to call an ambulance pronto, she probably saved mom’s life.
She was a truly lovely person and heaven is blessed.

I was so sorry to read about Marion’s passing. She was such a bright light when she helped at HPS breakfast club. She was always engaged with the children and made sure they had the opportunity to have a good start to the day. She will be missed. ♥️

I am so sorry to read this. Mrs. Nickalls is one of my favourite people in Huntsville from way back. Leanne, Lori, Karen and Grant my condolences to you all. Your Mom’s absence leaves a big void in this town.

  7. On behalf of the Orillia Soldiers Memorial School of Nursing Alumnae we are sending our thoughts and prayers to Marion’s family and friends at this time of great loss. I personally knew Marion from her involvement in our Alumnae. Always willing to help with her side kick Betty. She will be missed by many.
