Man winds up with multiple charges after attempting to flee from police

On Saturday April 1, 2023, members of the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted a traffic stop on Highway 11 in Perry Township. Shortly after, the suspect vehicle was involved in a single motor vehicle collision and the driver fled on foot from the scene. With assistance from the Huntsville OPP, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K9, the driver was located. No life-threatening injuries.

Further to the investigation, Jevon Jackson, 28 years of age, of Scarborough, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from police officer
  • Fail to stop for police
  • Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt- excessive speed
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of schedule II substances for the purpose of Trafficking (two counts)
  • Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution of obstruct justice (identity Fraud)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada (two counts)
