Man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant apprehended in the U.S.

A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his involvement in the kidnapping of Elnaz HAJTAMIRI has been apprehended on an unrelated warrant in the United States.

On August 5, 2024, Deshawn DAVIS was apprehended in Redway, California, by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and deputy U.S. marshals in the Northern District of California. DAVIS had been added to the Bolo Program’s Canada’s 25 Most Wanted and the USMS’ 15 Most Wanted Fugitive lists this year.

On January 12, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an abduction from a residence on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach. The suspects, described as three black males dressed in police gear, but not actual police uniforms, claimed to be there to arrest the victim. When the homeowner became suspicious and tried to call 9-1-1, he was overpowered and the victim was abducted. The suspects fled in a vehicle described as a white sport utility vehicle (SUV), believed to be a Lexus RX. Elnaz has not been seen since the abduction.

The victim, 37 years old at the time, Elnaz HAJTAMIRI (also goes by the surname TAMIRI), is described as female, 160 cm (5’3″) tall, slim build, with shoulder-length black hair.

Investigators will continue to collaborate with law enforcement in the United States to further the investigation into the kidnapping of Elnaz.

The OPP Criminal Investigation Branch continues its investigation. Members of the public are strongly urged to use the hashtag #BringElnazHome. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact

“We extend our gratitude to our law enforcement partners at the U.S. Marshals Service for apprehending a dangerous individual wanted in both Canada and the United States. While this arrest is a significant step forward, our primary goal remains uncovering the truth about Elnaz Hajtamiri’s disappearance and providing answers to her loved ones. Let this serve as a strong warning to those involved in Elnaz’s kidnapping: we will not rest until we find out what happened to her and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” said OPP Deputy Commissioner Marty KEARNS, Investigations and Organized Crime.
