From MAHC
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is pleased to announce the launch of its newly enhanced microsite, designed to provide a clearer and more engaging overview of our capital redevelopment project. This update, which incorporates valuable feedback from our Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), physicians, staff, and community members, aims to strengthen communication and keep our community informed about the proposed plan for two new hospitals with new and enhanced services for our communities.
The revised microsite now includes a range of new features, including informative videos and interactive infographics, to help make the details of the redevelopment project more accessible and understandable for all community members.
“Our goal with the updated microsite is to offer a more comprehensive and user-friendly resource for our community,” said Cheryl Harrison, President and CEO of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare. “We believe that by incorporating feedback and providing clear and engaging information, we can better keep everyone informed and involved in our plan to build two new hospitals for Muskoka and area. We invite everyone to visit the site, explore the new content, and stay connected with the progress of our redevelopment project.”
Key updates to the microsite include:
- New Videos: Offering clear explanations and insights into the redevelopment project and its benefits.
- Interactive Infographics: Presenting complex information in a more understandable and visual format.
- Updated FAQ Section: Providing answers to common questions and addressing key topics of interest.

Thank you for the link to this microsite. The charts and videos are helpful and clearly identify intents of programming and beds currently proposed for the redevelopment. I especially like the drawing of MAHC as a heart with two chambers that can only function well together. The FAQ section is good but no doubt there will be more questions. I hope everyone, including south Muskoka health care providers and community members have a careful look at the site and send in any questions they may have. It was discouraging to read in south Muskoka Doppler about Mr Dan Waters’ attempt to develop a new petition for Premier Ford, asking for the replacement of the MAHC board. I understand he suggests going back to two separate boards and hospital administrations. I am unsure that this will be helpful to improving the health care services in Muskoka..

I found the new microsite to be MAHC’s way to justify a plan that removes beds from the south and puts them in the north. Most of these bed are for stays longer than six days. A person in a bed in Huntsville waiting to be moved to a long term care facility won’t get better any faster. All it means is the persons family will have to travel further to visit , if they live in the south. Clearly we need more long term care beds in Muskoka and Almaguin that are close to the persons home. So make a plan for the future to build more long term care facilities close to where the person lives. I am sure a new long term care facility built in Almaguin would be well accepted.

What is so sad about the comments being made is that some out there will not be happy until there is only one hospital and one outpost and can you guess where it would be. Sadly not Huntsville the fastest growing community in Muskoka as well as the one that covers as much or more territory than our friends to the South. Is anyone even thinking of those that live north of Huntsville or East as far as Algonquin park?? They need to be part of the conversation not only those 25 minutes away
