The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville Muskoka was recently honoured with three awards in their division from the Eastern Canada & Caribbean District of Kiwanis, which consists of 288 clubs in Eastern Canada as well as 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and the northern coastal countries of South America

The club was nominated for the Ray Allen Award, the Godfrey Dyer Marketing Award, and the Award of Merit, and received all three.

Past governor Allen Ure presented Huntsville Muskoka’s secretary treasurer Rick Brooks with the Ray Allen Award, which acknowledges the continuing commitment of a past lieutenant governor with in their club, division and district. According to a media release from the club, Brooks “was lieutenant governor in 1999-2000 and continues today to be as engaged with Kiwanis as he always has been.”

The club also received the Godfrey Dyer Marketing Award. “This one gobsmacked me,” said Brooks. “This is truly a rewarding feeling to receive this and the credit goes to president Martin Mann for this one. As our PR chair he was instrumental in preparing for our submission.”

Finally, past district trustee, Marj Buck, presented the Award of Merit to Brooks as the ‘Unsung Hero’, in recognition of the contributions of the club secretary. “Kiwanis is the greatest service organization throughout the world and [I am]  extremely proud to have it as a part of my life for the past 30 years,” said Brooks.

As club President it was a great feeling when the awards were announced on the zoom meeting May 29th that had over 400 members present.

Our small club was honored, and think what we can do with more members.
