Linda Boothby will be running in the upcoming municipal election in Lake of Bays for Franklin Ward Councillor.
She said she decided to run for council because she cares deeply about the community and wants to shape its future in a “positive and practical way. I understand the many challenges and opportunities facing our township, from supporting local business and tourism to maintaining the area’s natural character and beauty,” she told Doppler.
Boothby grew up in Dorset and moved to Dwight 44 years ago. “I started my working career at Robinsons in Dorset under the guidance of Brad Robinson. From there, I went to Algonquin Highlands as Tax Collector for 10 years before starting my own business in Dwight. I built Lake of Bays Garden Centre 25 years ago,” she explained.
“My 2 children own and operate Fivepoint Muskoka, an excavation and landscape company in Lake of Bays. I sit on the Lake of Bays Economic and Development Committee. I am passionate about our local history. I am married. My parents still reside in Dorset.”
Asked what she would bring to the council table, Boothby stated she would bring community involvement and business experience. “I have a strong understanding of municipal operations and the role that council plays,” she added.
She stated that her priorities include supporting responsible economic development while strengthening tourism and local businesses. “I also believe it’s important to protect our unique culture, history, and character,” she noted.
“I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have already received. I look forward to connecting with both permanent and seasonal residents,” concluded Boothby.
