It is with sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Fraser Whitfield. Joseph was born in Huntsville Hospital on January 7, 1995, and passed peacefully on July 10, 2024, in Huntsville Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
He is the much-loved son of Susan (nee Leal) and Doug Whitfield. Much-loved brother of Lauren Olsen-Esce (Patrick), Ashley Olsen (Matt), and Amanda Whitfield. Loved uncle of Jackson Saunders, Aaron Conroy, and London Esce. Greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survived by his furry friend “George”.
Joseph was happiest when he was out with nature. He loved to share his knowledge about nature, wildlife, hunting and fishing. Joseph loved taking kids and adults in his boat to teach them how to fish and spent many hours going up and down the Muskoka River.
Joseph had a passion for rocks and gemstones and was very knowledgeable about many different types of rock and gemstones. He would take plain stones through his rock polisher and turn them into something beautiful! He later worked in stone quarries cutting rock and loved the products that he created.
Joseph’s other passion was trees. Again, he was very knowledgeable about the different types of trees, what the wood would look like, and what could be made from it. Joseph would cut the tree down, put it through his mill, and marvel at the different grains and colours. He would work with his milled pieces or just a big burl from a tree and could turn them into a beautiful piece of work.
Joseph was a loving, kind-hearted person who loved to help family, friends, and neighbours with anything they needed. He was also a very hard worker for any employer he worked for.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to Muskoka Cremation and Burial-Huntsville
