It’s Wayback Wednesday: The Wimpey’s of old

Welcome to Wayback Wednesday sponsored by Cavalcade Color Lab! Every week, we’ll be sharing a vintage photo and asking our readers to chime in with anything you can recall about the photo, other related memories, or even a funny caption. Have some vintage photos of your own? Send them to [email protected] and we may share them with our readers!

This week’s image, an ad from an old cookbook, is courtesy of Doppler reader Peggy Muller. Do you remember Huntsville’s original Wimpey’s? What was your favourite thing about it? (Click on the image above to see it full size.)

Last week we shared this photo with you:

Guesses on the date this photo was taken ranged from the 1920s to the 1970s, and a few Doppler readers added these comments or details:

Donna Jane Rowan: I like the shelter!

Craig Macdonald: All that’s missing is pipe man

Peter Brown: The middle boat looks like a Dispro (Disappearing Propeller Boat).

David Johns: Cassidy’s still have their gas station there in the photo that burnt down in 1945.

Unfortunately, we don’t know the exact date this photo was taken but a note inscribed on the back tells us it was from the 1930s or 1940s. Thanks for your guesses and comments, everyone!
