Getting hitched? Huntsville has beautiful wedding venues that are affordable, too

Big or small, simple or elaborate, rustic or elegant, indoor or out, no matter what kind of wedding you want, the Town of Huntsville has an abundance of venues to suit almost every taste.

For a ceremony you and your guests won’t forget, the Algonquin Theatre’s dramatic lighting and backdrops, state-of-the-art sound system, and seating for up to 300 guests in the orchestra section (or 408 in the full theatre) makes for an unforgettable venue.

On a smaller scale, the chapel at Muskoka Heritage Place provides an historic setting with seating for up to 70 guests and beautiful outdoor photo opportunities throughout the property’s pioneer village. “The old general store, the barn, the train station, or even just the village’s park-like landscape are all unique photo settings,” says Greg Pilling, Manager of Sales and Customer Service for the Town of Huntsville. “You could even put up a tent for an outdoor reception for up to 300 people.”

If an outdoor ceremony is your dream, Camp Kitchen doesn’t just have stunning Fairy Lake as its backdrop, with its location at the end of the Portage Flyer’s line the wedding party and up to 100 guests can all arrive by open-air train.

Just around the corner from either Muskoka Heritage Place or Camp Kitchen and only minutes from the Algonquin Theatre is the beautiful Active Living Centre. It has a gorgeous view of the Muskoka River, a rustic fireplace, a sound system and dance floor, a full catering kitchen and bar area, and plenty of parking. With room for 200 people for a sit-down reception, or 160 with a fireplace-side ceremony in the same room, it’s an ideal year-round venue. If you’re planning a wedding for this year, the Active Living Centre has spring, summer and fall dates available for 2017, or you can book ahead for 2018.

Huntsville’s community halls offer the most affordable venue options. Utterson Hall has space for up to 150 people including a stage for a head table, and has kitchen facilities fully stocked with china, glassware, and stemware. There’s even a green space next to the building that’s suitable for an outdoor wedding, after which guests can retreat to the cool comfort of the air-conditioned hall for your reception.

Port Sydney Hall, just across the street from Port Sydney Beach, has a 60-foot deck with beautiful lake views, making it the ideal location for a reception following a beach ceremony. It’s also just around the corner from Indian Landing, a popular location for wedding photos. The hall has a full kitchen and will accommodate up to 220 guests.

Both halls are fully accessible.

And don’t forget about Huntsville’s many parks as locations for an outdoor ceremony.

You won’t find a more beautiful backdrop for wedding photos than the Muskoka landscape. There are endless options for photos in and around Huntsville’s abundant parks, heritage buildings, and waterfronts. For inclement weather or a splash of greenery for winter weddings, the living wall at the Waterloo Summit Centre with its winding staircase results in dramatic photos.

“All of these options are a cost-effective, affordable way to host your ceremony or reception,” says Greg. A daily permit is required for park rentals. Indoor facilities can be rented by the day or weekend and also require a special occasion permit. And don’t forget about a marriage license, which is available at Town Hall by appointment.

“Whatever you can imagine for your wedding, we can provide the perfect backdrop,” says Greg.
