Take the chance to become a Huntsville Striker
The Huntsville Soccer Club is hosting its 2019 outdoor season Strikers rep tryouts and player evaluations this weekend at Riverside Public School for a variety of age groups.
The Huntsville Strikers teams play in the Huronia District Soccer League (HDSL) against teams from Barrie, Bradford, Bracebridge, Collingwood, Innisfil, Orillia and other communities in the area. As well, some rep teams will participate in out-of-town festivals and tournaments throughout the season.
“It’s a great way for young soccer players to increase their experience and level of play,” says club president Dave Caplan. “We encourage all our players to try out for our rep program.”
Teams in the U9, U10, U11 and U12 age groups are considered Development teams, while those aged U13 and U14 are in the recreational/competitive league. Those who join the rep program will be given the chance to register for pre-season training sessions (practices) both indoors and out as the teams prepare for the summer.
“The Strikers stream is more competitive than House League, but still with an emphasis on skill development and fun,” says Caplan. “Our rep tryouts and evaluations will give your child an opportunity to participate in a training session and get a feel for the rep program.”
The Huntsville Soccer Club will determine which teams to run based on turnout and interest from the community. If you would like to participate but are unable to attend, please email the Rep Coordinator ([email protected]).
As well, if you are interested in playing in an age division not mentioned, email the Rep Coordinator ([email protected]) immediately so the club can determine if there is enough interest to field a team.
Parents of Development Team aged children should note all players from U9 through U12 must also be registered in the 2019 Huntsville House League program. Registration opened online on Feb. 1.
