The Ontario government is providing $12,597,090 to help renew and rehabilitate local infrastructure across Parry Sound-Muskoka. The funding is being delivered through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) and is part of the government’s overall investment of $400 million in 2023.
“Our government is investing historic amounts into Parry Sound-Muskoka’s community infrastructure,” said MPP Graydon Smith, Parry Sound-Muskoka. “These dollars will have a meaningful impact for residents of our communities as they enable key projects to be built or upgraded, thereby enhancing quality of life and creating jobs and economic opportunity.”
OCIF provides funding to eligible communities every year to help them address critical infrastructure needs, including road, bridge, water, and wastewater projects. Municipalities across Parry Sound-Muskoka will be receiving the following amounts:

“Ontario’s small, rural and northern communities are essential to the growth and prosperity of the province,” said Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure. “Our government is continuing to provide stable funding to meet local infrastructure needs and provide support in response to pressures from inflation. By supporting key community infrastructure projects, we are helping to grow and build safer, more resilient communities for generations to come.”
In December 2021, the Ontario government announced an additional $1 billion for critical infrastructure projects that support economic growth and job creation in small, rural and northern communities, bringing the government’s total investment to nearly $2 billion dollars over five years.
“We are pleased to receive these funds for investment in our area roads and bridges. The OCIF continues to provide Huntsville with stable on-going funding for infrastructure in our community so that we can reduce the infrastructure gap and continue to provide quality services to our residents,” said Huntsville Mayor Nancy Alcock.
“As the new District Council gets down to business, it’s good news that OCIF funding will again be available in 2023 to help maintain critical infrastructure in Muskoka, such as our drinking water systems. I appreciate the Ontario government’s ongoing investment into the roads, pipes, and bridges that our residents and businesses depend on,” said District of Muskoka Chair Jeff Leman.
