Huntsville OPP wrap up Easter long weekend traffic campaign

Members of the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in our community.

Over the Easter long weekend officers completed 13 R.I.D.E.(Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checks and conducted approximately 100 traffic stops, resulting in a total of 89 charges.

The traffic campaign ran from April 7, 2023, to April 10, 2023.

Breakdown of charges:

  • Speeding charges – 70
  • Seatbelt charges – 4
  • Impaired Operation charges – 3
  • Other miscellaneous charges – 12

Excessive speeds and impaired driving threaten the safety of all road users. Drivers are asked to slow down, pay attention, and NEVER drive impaired. To report a dangerous driver, call 9-1-1 or 1-888-310-1122.
