Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program began across the Province of Ontario on Thursday November 17, 2022, and will end on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Members of the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have worked extremely hard over the first week of Festive R.I.D.E. in the Huntsville and Lake of Bays township area.
The following are a few of the highlights of the excellent work done in traffic enforcement by the members of the Huntsville OPP.
From November 17, 2022, to November 23, 2022:
– Happy to report no charges for impaired driving were laid.
– Twenty-nine speeding charges were laid.
– One distracted driving charge was laid
– Twenty-seven R.I.D.E. check stops were set up on roadways throughout the Huntsville
and Lake of Bays township areas.
– Huntsville Detachment responded too one hundred twenty traffic related complaints.
Huntsville OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from alcohol-impaired and drug-impaired drivers. The OPP is reminding drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when operating a motor vehicle. Make alternative arrangements, such as a designated driver, taxi, rideshare or staying the night.
