Huntsville man charged with driving impaired in stolen truck in Burk’s Falls

 

On Saturday, June 29, 2019 officers from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were told to watch for a possible stolen vehicle that may by in the Burk’s Falls area. The pickup truck was stolen from a business in Huntsville earlier that day.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. OPP received a traffic complaint of an erratic driver north on Highway 11 exiting into Burk’s Falls. Police observed the vehicle, which matched the description of the stolen truck from earlier. Police followed the vehicle and eventually arrested the driver on Commercial Drive.

Police charged Tyler GROSS, 31, of Huntsville Ontario with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Operation while prohibited, contrary to section 320.18 of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) Criminal Code
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Sundridge, Ontario.
