As part of HFA’s mandate to offer education opportunities for students of all ages, Teen Performance Arts Nights (T-PAN) will be introduced this Fall for youth between the ages of 12 to 18 years.
On the last Tuesday of every month beginning on September 24, youth will gather to participate in different kinds of arts-based activities. The experiences will evolve based on what participants choose to explore including Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts, with the students taking on the role of contributing members as they create the T-PAN program. The group may choose to bring in an artist from the community, make plans to attend a live performance together, watch a film screening, or plan a community arts event.
“Our goal is to create a fun and safe space for youth to share their passions and interests and we hope that participants feel inspired to continue enriching their lives through the arts,” said Sarah Vanasse, co-creator of T-PAN and board member for Huntsville Festival of the Arts.
The first evening of T-PAN will be a meet-and-greet event on Tuesday, September 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Other Side Studio, located adjacent to the back entrance of the Mill on Main. There will be fun games and great conversation and organizers hope to get a better sense of the types of arts experiences that participants are passionate about. The evenings will be hosted by Alberta Robinet and Sarah Vanasse, both educators at Tawingo College.
For more information or to register before the September 20 deadline, email Sarah Vanasse at email@example.com. There are limited spots available, but anyone aged 12-18 with a passion for the arts is invited to register.
