Huntsville COVID-19 assessment centre closing this week

Submitted by the Algonquin Family Health Team

After two years of dedicated COVID-19 testing and assessments, Huntsville physicians and the Town of Huntsville will be closing the Huntsville COVID-19 Assessment Centre at the Active Living Centre after March 30, 2022.

Testing has reduced significantly, due to a variety of factors. The physicians are looking forward to re-focusing medical care efforts to community primary care and other important roles in Huntsville.

The partnerships between several local groups have been instrumental in battling the pandemic. We are thankful to all of those who participated and hopeful that working relationships formed to respond to this need will continue to build a community-focused health care system in Huntsville.

Patients WITH a Huntsville family doctor or nurse practitioner can call their provider’s office for:
1. Pre-operative testing;
2. COVID-19 PCR testing that meets Ontario Health criteria; or
3. A medical assessment if you are concerned about COVID-19 symptoms.

Patients WITHOUT a local family doctor or nurse practitioner:
1. For pre-operative testing, please call Huntsville Shoppers Drug Mart to make an appointment OR book an appointment at MAHC Bracebridge Assessment Centre.
2. For COVID-19 PCR testing that meets Ontario Health criteria, visit Huntsville Shoppers Drug Mart online to book an appointment OR book an appointment at MAHC Bracebridge Assessment Centre.
3. For a medical assessment if you are concerned about COVID-19 symptoms, please make an appointment at MAHC Bracebridge Assessment Centre.

Thank you again to all of the physicians, nurses, town employees, administrators, volunteers, and countless others who responded to and continue to respond to the health care needs of Huntsville residents, both local and seasonal.
