Huntsville Council puts moratorium idea on short-term rentals on ice

A motion out of the General Committee meeting in April directing staff to review an interim control bylaw while the municipality investigates planning tools to restrict short-term rental accommodation uses as well as holding a public open house to gather information on the same, has been tabled.

The decision passed unanimously at Huntsville’s May 23 Regula Council meeting.

“Basically, in consultation with our clerk and our chief building official, we decided this is the best course of action at this time while we gather more information, and that we still have this as an option, but we’re going to circle back and look at all other options as well,” said Councillor Scott Morrison
