Last weekend, Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area unveiled a brand new ski trail called the Fun Run.
Located off the Red Quad chairlift, the run is designed to enhance the natural Muskoka terrain and add in some extra features similar to what you would see on an easy ski cross or snowboard cross track.
“The trail is named the Fun Run because that is what it is,” explains Andrew Rusynyk, General Manager of the ski area. “The Fun Run features terrain-based features such as rolling mounds of snow called rollers, banked corners and even a drop off in one spot.”
Even though it sounds difficult, Rusynyk says it is accessible to most skier and snowboarder levels. “We planned this especially for the kids and always wanted something that would be fun, a little challenging and achievable for both kids and their parents chasing them through the run.”
The official opening was held on Saturday, January 26 with a ribbon cutting at the top of the Fun Run and several of the ski teams and lesson groups attending.
It has been many years since a new run has opened at Hidden Valley Highlands and it was met with great excitement. Speaking with several of the children after trying out the Fun Run, we were bombarded with comments such as “I love it”, “it’s so much fun”, and “can we do it again?” Looks like the Fun Run is already living up to its name.
