The Huntsville High School (HHS) swim team was resurrected seven years ago by teachers/coaches Allison Myers and Sarah Philips.
“We started with about eight members and have steadily grown,” said Myers. The HHS swim team now consists of 25 members in total, a combination of swimmers from the Muskoka Aquatic Club (MUSAC) and other students of varying swimming abilities who want to improve their technique and cross-train for other sports.
The Regional GBSSA (Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association) competition was held on Tuesday, December 18 in Barrie and the Hoyas returned with amazing results.
The HHS team finished the regionals in fourth place overall, out of 19 competitive swim teams, for combined team scores. The Hoyas Senior Girls team took first place and ten HHS swimmers qualified for the OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) in 2019.
