With the proliferation of scams, many targetting older adults, the District Municipality of Muskoka in partnership with the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility’s Seniors Community Grant and Agilec will be offering fraud prevention workshops this fall.
The Fighting Fraud for Older Adults project offers Fraud Prevention workshops in various locations. The workshops will be hosted by Agilec, one of the leaders in education who have designed content, especially with older adults in mind.
Fraud Prevention Workshops will cover a variety of topics: how to protect your personal information, identify risks and types of scams, Internet safety, and how to report cases of fraud. The workshops will be informative and interactive to adapt to all learning styles and give older adults hands-on and real-life scenarios.

Brian Tapley,
I can’t tell you why the notice is so short to register for the first session, but Agilec operates the employment resource centre in Bracebridge, here is their website – https://agilec.ca/.
I hope they are able to reach out to Seniors groups in the areas where the sessions are being held to inform them of this service. I wonder why the larger towns are not listed as locations where this workshop will be offered.
How do I know this isn’t a fraud?
You told me to register a month in advance and yet only gave me a little over a week’s notice.
This is not an auspicious start. It is, however, government in Ontario so maybe it is an auspicious and normal start. How would one know?
I’ve never heard of the government group that purports to operate this program.
What the heck is “agilec”?
Great … But will there be more dates and locations?
This is a topic that could be revisited every year.
Thank you
