Fire department thanks community for donating more than 43,000 lbs of food for annual drive

A message from the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all the people in the community who donated to help make the 30th Annual Salvation Army Project Porchlight Food Drive a huge success. Also, thanks to all the special people who went to great lengths to collect and sort the food.

“Over 43,000 pounds of food was collected in a little over three hours,” explained Fire Prevention Officer Mike Vadlja. “It is truly amazing to see the support from our community. We have surpassed last year’s numbers by at least 5,000 pounds.”

If you would still like to donate, non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Salvation Army Church on Mary St. East and at Fire Station #1 on Payne Drive.

On behalf of the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department, THANK YOU to all that helped!
