Environment Canada updates weather advisory

Crews are slowly removing the fluffy stuff from roads this morning, so drive slowly because you’ll either be making tracks or driving in someone else’s tracks. Some roads are down to one lane. We don’t need to tell you winter tires are a good idea this time of year.

The following weather advisory was issued by Environment Canada at 5:05 am this morning, Friday, November 18, 2022

Significant lake-effect snow squalls developing this evening and continuing into Saturday night.

Hazards:
Local snowfall accumulations of 30 to 60 cm by early Sunday morning.
Visibilities may be reduced to near zero in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Timing:
This evening through early Sunday morning.

Discussion:
Significant snow squalls are forecast to develop this evening and will continue through Saturday night before coming to an end.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.
