Environment Canada issues special weather statement

Description:

Periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to bring the potential for significant rainfall on Tuesday, impacting Huntsville, Parry Sound, and surrounding areas.

Hazards:
Local total rainfall amounts up to 60 mm possible.
Rainfall rates of 30 to 50 mm per hour possible.

Timing: Tuesday.

Discussion:
Multiple rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to spread across the region on Tuesday. Rainfall warnings may be required and issued with short notice to reflect the rapidly changing conditions.

It is currently very uncertain how showers and thunderstorms in this area will evolve. Atmospheric conditions will be strongly influenced by convection tonight and early Tuesday morning over the US Midwest.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.
