Emsdale resident charged in prescription drug fraud

 

On February 20, 2020, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Huntsville and Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation into a report of a female who had been acquiring controlled substances with fraudulently obtained prescriptions.

As a result of the investigation a quantity of hydromorphone was seized and Ruth REAMAN (52), of Emsdale, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Nine (9) counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance – S. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Three (3) counts of Fraud under $5000 – S. 380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Four (4) counts of Obtaining by False Pretence – S. 362(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Criminal Breach of Trust – S. 336 of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released on an Undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville, Ontario on April 1, 2020.
