After receiving a report on March 18, 2022 that a 72-year-male, Karel van den Heuvel, hadn’t returned home after going out onto Lake Vernon on his all-terrain vehicle earlier that day, Huntsville OPP officers initiated a search for the missing male.
Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Aviation Services, and OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were deployed to assist in the search.
On March 20, 2022, Karel van den Heuvel (deceased) was located and recovered from Lake Vernon in the area of Rock Island.
