For Sean and Traci McIlroy of McIlroy Insurance Brokers the decision to pledge $25,000 to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s Business Cares initiative wasn’t a difficult one. Sean says McIlroy Insurance has a long history of donating to the Hospital and this pledge just continues that trend. In fact, retired partner broker, Rob Payne, was once Board chair.

The difference with this donation is that it is being made a little more public. Sean is okay with that. He says one of the reasons they signed onto the program was so that people could see that local businesses believe in the hospital and are not being scared away from donating because of the unrest over where the hospital might be situated 15 to 20 years from now.

With all the cuts and things happening at all levels of government it frightens us that our hospital has to struggle. We also want to make other businesses are aware that they should donate too. We don’t want people second guessing their donation because they aren’t sure about the future.Sean McIlroy

Bringing it home, Sean says, as is typical of families with a young child, he and Traci have found themselves visiting the Emergency Department a little more often than they did BC (before Coco). “Nothing serious,” Sean said. “Just small stuff. But we were taken aback by how professional every one is at the hospital. We could not have been taken care of any better. So, you always want to give to something you believe in and the staff affirmed in our minds how important it is to have the equipment and all the tools to do their jobs properly. We need them to have that because where would we be without it?”
