January 10, 1952 – October 25, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the very sudden and unexpected passing of our loving son, brother, husband, dad, and papa.
Dana was a loving son to Bart and Beverly McConnell of Welland, brother to Terry (Louise) McConnell, Robin (Rod) Richards, and Rebecca (John) McNeil all of Welland.
Soulmate and spouse to his high school sweetheart Wendy McConnell for almost 53 years.
Devoted son-in-law to the late Russ and the late Anita Nicholls.
Beloved Dad to Kate (Jon) Adamson of Fenelon Falls, and Brian (Ashley) McConnell of Yarmouth N.S.
The absolute best Papa in the world to Mikayla (Hudson) Fisher, Kelsey Fisher, and Wyatt Fisher all of Huntsville, and Tanner McConnell (expected to arrive in January) of Yarmouth N.S.
Brother-in-law to Sherry (Rob) Payne, and Gail (Richard) Menard.
A loving uncle to Tim (Caroline) Payne, Jeff (Terra) Payne, Riley (Jenn) Payne, Julia (Darrin) Monk, Grant (Tania) Richards, Cole (Nicole) Richards, Eric Richards, Christopher (Clare) McConnell, the late Justin McConnell, Joshua McNeil, Jackson McNeil, Max McNeil, Matthew McNeil, and Jenna McNeil. Great uncle to Chloe Payne, Callum Payne, Jordan Payne, Lucas Payne, Nathan Payne, Layne Monk, Crüe Richards, Rex Richards, Alexandra West, Nathan West, Kherrington McConnell, Willow McConnell, and Liam McConnell.
Dan devoted 40 years of his life to KWH Pipe (Infra-Pipe Solutions) in Huntsville as a shipping supervisor.
He graduated from Georgian College with a degree in Manufacturing Leadership.
He coached his beloved Huntsville Honeys women’s hockey team for 23 years and was inducted into the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame in 2021 in the coaching category.
Dan loved his golf and especially his “later in life” golf job at The Huntsville Downs on the grounds crew.
At Dan’s request, there will be no funeral service or visitation. We will, however, have a celebration of his life in the spring, on the Golf Course, of course!

My condolences to Wendy and the entire McConnell family. Annie and I were both saddened to hear about Dans passing. Dan was a great neighbor, and was a regular customer at my shop. I always looked forward to seeing him drop in, because he was always a positive and happy guy. Dan always made my day just a little bit better when he dropped by. He was one of the good ones..
