It was with very little fanfare that council approved its development committee’s recommendation to grant Skyline International Development’s rezoning application at its meeting on September 28.
The Official Plan amendment, giving Skyline those development rights on the property, was passed by the previous council last fall. A public meeting was held August 12 at the Active Living Centre about Skyline’s rezoning and land subdivision request. At that meeting, area residents expressed huge opposition to the proposed development, primarily citing concerns with the size and character of the proposed development. But in the end, on September 16, Huntsville’s development committee approved the rezoning and gave the subdivision application (to be approved at the District level) its stamp of approval.
