Burk’s Falls Army Cadets to host an Izzy Doll Initiative Citizenship Community Project

Burk’s Falls 3133 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps is hosting a special Izzy Doll Initiative Community Project at the Burk’s Falls Legion Branch 405 (9 Mary St) on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All community members are welcome to participate in this event, especially those who love to knit, crochet, or loom, regardless of skill level. Anyone can help create Izzy Dolls which help to bring comfort to children living in war-torn areas. Drop in, share your craft, and be a part of an initiative that turns local creativity into global kindness. Equipment and supplies will be provided, and yarn will be available for pick up in advance at the Burk’s Falls Legion for those who wish to get a head start creating Izzy Dolls.

Across Northern Ontario, the Izzy Doll Initiative is bringing neighbours, cadets, and local community groups together to craft small handmade dolls that offer comfort to children facing crisis around the world. Rooted in the compassion shown by Canadian peacekeeper Master Corporal Mark “Izzy” Isfeld and his mother Carol, the project has become a meaningful way for communities to give back, strengthen connections, and show how simple acts of kindness can reach far beyond our local communities.

The Cadet Program strengthens Canadian communities by developing engaged, responsible young citizens who give back through leadership, service, and meaningful community involvement. It builds youth who are confident, community-minded and ready to contribute to a stronger, more resilient Canada.

I found patterns for the Izzy dolls by doing a search on the computer . When made the armed services take them to children in war torn countries .
Information where to send them is also given.
Slow in finding out about this project but glad I finally did. Now we can help the cadets in Burkes Falls get Izzy dolls to the children.
Join in if you can. Thank you.

Izzy doll project by Burk’s Fall Cadets. The dolls go worldwide to help children in war torn countries. Appear to be knitted or crochet.
Is there someway I could get a pattern to knit or try to knit a doll? (Had to add try to)
Perhaps an email address could be forwarded for a contact.
I am sure others would like to join in too.
