After Otters head coach and general manager, Brent Tomlinson, stepped down earlier this month, the organization had a void to fill.
Co-coach Marc Gagnon has moved into the head coach role, and the Otters welcomed back Britten Coffin in a new role as the general manager of the club. Coffin worked with the Otters during the 2018-19 season as a scout and contributed to player development.
“Working with such a great management group and coaching staff last season has taught me a lot,” said Coffin. “I look forward to continuing to learn from them. I worked hard last season with all of the tasks that were given to me.”
Coffin is currently pursuing a diploma in Sports Management. He will bring that passion and commitment to the club, and will apply his great understanding of the game to the team as a whole. He said he is honoured to be given such an amazing opportunity with the Otters.
“I plan on working just as hard this season as well to help this team be successful. I bring lots of passion and commitment to the organization as well as new ideas to help the team improve inside and outside of the game,” he said. “Moving forward, we want to continue to be actively involved in the community and put together a successful, hard-working, fun-to-watch team that our fans can be proud of.”
The Huntsville Junior Otters are in the recruiting and planning phases for the 2019-20 hockey season.
