Bracebridge hospital unit outbreak declared over, Huntsville units still in outbreak mode

Two hospital units, the east and south wings at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) site, remain in outbreak mode at this time. While the outbreak in the north wing of the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital has been declared over, according to a press release issued today by Muskoka Algonquin Health Care which manages both the Bracebridge and Huntsville hospital sites.

At the Bracebridge hospital, the unit-specific outbreak lasted 14 days. Eleven patients and eight staff cases were attributed to the outbreak in total, states the release.

The north wing has reopened to visitors in line with MAHC’s visitation policy, currently at Phase 2, to allow two visitors per day between the visiting hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

MAHC reminds the community that visiting inpatients may only commence after the inpatient has received a negative COVID-19 swab result. They also ask that you consider calling the care unit before visiting to ensure the patient is safe to have visitors and refrain from visiting if you feel unwell.
