Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka and HPL join forces to bring you a large-scale yard sale, donations accepted

The Huntsville Public Library and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka have partnered together to bring a  large-scale yard sale to the Huntsville community for two great causes!

The two organizations will be hosting a public yard sale on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Huntsville Public Library (HPL). A range of items will be for sale in efforts to raise funds for both Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka and the Huntsville Public Library. Community members can donate their gently used items to this cause by dropping off items at the Huntsville Public Library during regular operating hours from September 1 to September 23, 2022.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka (BBBSM) is thrilled to be partnering with the Huntsville Public Library for this new fundraising initiative. “The Huntsville Public Library is an extremely valuable part of the community that values young people the same way that we do,” says Fallon Miller, Executive Director of  BBBSM. “We feel this is a great initiative to support two vital organizations in the community and we look forward to working with the library in a multitude of ways,” she said. BBBSM will use the funds generated to maintain 16 ongoing matches enrolled in the agency which is one of the largest costs in their budget.

When BBBSM approached Huntsville Public Library (HPL) about partnering in the community of  Huntsville, there was no hesitation in moving forward together. The work of BBBSM to change the lives of young people fits naturally with the library’s values and the library’s role in the community. We look forward to developing a solid relationship with BBBSM; this fundraiser is our first step in achieving that. The funds raised will go towards the ongoing funding of programs and services.

Community members can schedule a drop off time or ask questions about specific items by calling the  Huntsville Public Library at 705-789-5232 or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka at 705-205-9385. The initiative is also in need of volunteers on the day of the event, September 24, 2022. Those interested in volunteering should email [email protected] or call one of the phone numbers above.
