Deerhurst Resort and Eclipse Art Gallery have chosen the winner of the 2019 Art Contest.
This year’s winner is artist Susan Hay of Haliburton. She was chosen from many submissions received from across Ontario. Specializing in landscapes, Susan uses vivid acrylic colours on texturized canvas to produce unique depictions of the lakes, rocks and trees that are so loved in Algonquin Park.
In addition to prominent exposure at the resort and its online channels, Susan will also enjoy a complimentary stay at the resort.
Susan will attend the public reveal, which takes place Friday June 21 at 2 p.m. in the lobby of Deerhurst Resort, main pavilion. A trio of her exceptional works, introducing both out-of-town and local resort patrons to her vision of Algonquin’s unique beauty, will be unveiled at that time.
What started as a celebration of Canada’s 150 birthday in 2017, then as a commemoration of Algonquin Park’s 125th anniversary in 2018, has now become an annual art contest celebrating art inspired by Muskoka and Algonquin Park at Deerhurst Resort.
The contest is the brainchild of Karin Kriekaard of Eclipse Art Gallery, located at Deerhurst Resort. The contest invites artists to submit a series three paintings that will vie for the honour of hanging at the Deerhurst front desk for the next 12 months, thereby becoming the first impression of our area’s naturally inspired artistic richness for thousands of guests checking in for their vacation or conference stay in Muskoka.
