Aben Graphics is continuing business after a significant fire in the early hours of Thursday, January 26 shut its Hanes Road building down. There were no injuries.
Although there is speculation that the cause of the fire could’ve been electrical in nature, the investigation continues. In the meantime, the Hanes Road building is currently closed to the public but a temporary office has been set up at 27 Princess Street for drop off and order pick up. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Fortunately, their computer system is back up and running and their company records and artwork files have not been affected. “We are continuing business, processing orders and quote requests, reaching out to our trusted trade suppliers for help during this time as we work to get set up in a new commercial space,” reads a letter from Aben Graphics to its clients and friends and a notice posted on its website.
According to the business, while it is unable to offer copy centre services, this time it is hoping to get the service back up soon in a new storefront.
“Unfortunately most of our equipment was affected by the fire. There will be some items that we may be able to refurbish and reuse, but again we are in early stages and the extent of the damage will become clearer in the weeks to come,” adds the letter.
The Aben Graphics team thanked community members for their support during a difficult time.”Words of support and offers to help have been overwhelming and much appreciated, it is so nice that people truly care, despite all the craziness in the world today! You have to love living and working in a small town with a great sense of community.”
