From the District of Muskoka
Starting May 5, the weekly curbside collection in Muskoka returns for year-round routes, and curbside collection starts up for seasonal routes. Waste facilities also move to summer hours.
To help you stay on top of your waste collection, here’s what you need to know:
Heads up, if you’re returning to beautiful Muskoka – the Clear Bag program is here! All garbage must be placed in a clear garbage bag for curbside collection in an effort to reduce waste and help preserve our landfill. Learn more at: www.muskoka.on.ca/clear-bags
Our Green Bin program has expanded! Don’t have yours yet? Fill out the form at: www.muskoka.on.ca/green-bin
Transfer Stations and Waste Facilities also begin their summer hours of operation on Monday. View the list of hours at: http://www.muskoka.on.ca/…/drop-off-locations-and…
Download the Muskoka Waste App to get collection reminders, find facility hours and learn how to sort waste with our Waste Wizard: www.muskoka.on.ca/know-where-it-goes

Hopefully these new changes will encourage a more focused effort to properly sort out waste.
I do fear however that due to the high costs of using our local dumps ( 40 used 4ft 1×6’s and 5 bags of leaves cost me $76 to dispose of last week) we don’t see an increase of illegal dumping in ditches.
