A sweet story and it helps the Huntsville Hospital Foundation in a big way

What do you get your bosses when the company you work for celebrates its 20th anniversary? If you work at Greystone Project Management you think about what’s important to your employers, where they volunteer their time, and you plan a fundraising initiative in their honour.

Staff of Greystone recently marked the company’s 20th anniversary by announcing the $20 for 20 Campaign in support of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. They are asking people to donate $20 to the Foundation in support of their 20 years in the community with the objective of reaching 1000 people.

Since this idea was intended as a gift for their employers the staff waited until the Chamber’s end of summer dock party to announce the initiative, surprising Pat and Daphne Dube who were the main sponsors for the evening.

Pat and Daphne were indeed surprised. They were also honoured and humbled and a little giddy.

“It was extremely thoughtful that our staff recently launched their own campaign, in our honour, to support a cause they obviously feel is important to our corporate culture. The Greystone 20/20 campaign is brilliant and we encourage people to give generously.”Pat Dube, Greystone Property Management

We find out now that Pat and Daphne had a surprise of their own that they had intended to announce that evening. They also wanted to give back to the community and recognize their staff. Their plan was to announce a $25,000 personal donation to the Foundation in recognition of the milestone.

Upon learning of the two surprises and not wanting to spoil it for either side, the Chamber convinced Pat and Daphne to wait to make their announcement all the while helping the staff plan theirs.

Pat laughs, “It is often said that great minds think alike. Daphne and I are pleased to make a significant donation to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, in honour of and to celebrate twenty years of business success with Greystone. We both recognize, more than ever, the importance of a properly funded local hospital. It is important to lead by example as we embark on a new year of fund raising challenges.”

Of course, the real winner in all of this is the community of Huntsville. “The foundation provides a critical source of funding, desperately needed to upgrade and maintain clinical equipment that is excluded from traditional government support. We all need to do our part, this is ours,” recognized Pat.
