The Huntsville Junior C Hawks played a strong third period Friday night in Barrie and the result was a come from behind 11-10 win over the Barrie Bombers.
The score was tied at two after the first period and Huntsville trailed 7-6 going into the third period.
Chris McLaughlin led the way with three goals including the game winner. He also set up another. Ty Conn had a five point night including three goals Luke Allen scored twice and assisted on three others. A.J Campbell also had two goals. Ten players in all had at least a one point night as Huntsville came away with its second one goal victory over Barrie this year.
The Hawks have now won four of their first six games of the season, three of those victories coming on the road.
“We seem to show up on the road”, said coach Joe O’Halloran who called it a sneaky win. “Hopefully we can bring that effort next Saturday against Gloucester at the Jack Bionda arena. All in all we are coming together but still have a long way to go. Our power play had a better night accounting for four goals and we didn’t get as many penalties.”
The Hawks have two games next week. They play in Whitby Friday night before returning home for the game with Gloucester. That game has also been designated minor lacrosse night as the Hawks plan to recognize three of last year’s Provincial minor teams.
