“Yumminess in every bite”: Introducing Slice of Muskoka

Slice of Muskoka Café and Wellness Kitchen is carrying on the good food philosophy of its predecessor, Soul Sistas.

Terry and Rose Wood bought Soul Sistas from Lorraine Morin and bring Terry’s 40 years of experience as a baker and Rose’s background as a healthy cuisine artist to their new venture.

“We fell in love with this little wellness café not only because of the wholesome food aspect but also because of the building with private patio,” said Rose. “It’s been a dream come true. I have been delighted to get to know the people of Huntsville and travellers through our menu.”

Rose said her passion is creating new dishes, especially if they are plant-based.

In addition to takeout and dine-in meals, drinks, snacks, and treats, Slice of Muskoka offers catering to local businesses with delivery in town.

Slice of Muskoka prides themselves on being flexible to everyone’s dietary preferences, from vegan to gluten-free. While their menu is ever-growing, their core selection includes salads, wraps, soups, sandwiches, baked goods, specialty organic coffee and tea, smoothies, and juices.

They have also recently added frozen items to their take-home menu including lasagna Bolognese, cabbage rolls, beef quinoa, vegan bean burgers, and healthy slow-cooked soups.

“We offer real food that is made from quality ingredients and prepared with dedication to achieve the best flavours and yumminess in every bite,” said Rose. “The bonus is you feel good after you’ve eaten.”

Some of Rose’s favourite items include smoothies and raw treats, while Terry prefers the more traditional dishes such as the Muskoka Grill Sandwich or Salmon Salad, and the new Turkey Club and Beer Burrito he will be adding to the menu soon.

Their most popular dishes so far include: The Hiker Breakfast, Chicken Burrito, Spicy Chickpea, Hummus and Falafel Wrap or Bowl with Cashew Tzatziki, take-home soups, veggie burgers, and their gluten-free cupcakes.

Slice of Muskoka currently has a dine-in limit of five people due to COVID restrictions, and plans to open the patio when the weather gets warmer.

“I absolutely love running the café more than I thought I would,” said Rose. “The people here are just amazing! They have been supportive, helpful, kind, and so patient while I’ve transitioned to our menu. I absolutely love getting to know each person through our menu and that I am able to unleash my creativity from the foods I create right down to the labels I design.”

Slice of Muskoka is located at Unit 3, 68 West Road. Their current hours are Monday to Friday from 9-3 and Saturday from 11-2. They are closed on Sundays. Check out their menu at sliceofmuskoka.ca. To contact Rose, call or text 705-789-6655 or send an email to [email protected].
