William “Bill” Tettmar

May 26, 1928 ~ August 1, 2025

Passed away peacefully at Douglas Crossing, Uxbridge on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the age of 97 years. Husband of the late Elsie Constance (nee Whitman). Loving father of Susan Warne (Murray), Jim Tettmar (Valerie), and Karen Tettmar (Todd Walkem). Adoring grandfather to eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Youngest brother of the late Don, Ken, and Bruce.

Bill started and ended his career in the printing industry and, upon retirement, Bill and Elsie, his beloved companion of 64 years, moved to Fairy Lake, Huntsville, where their house was the centre of many joyous family gatherings. Bill and Elsie were active members of the Huntsville Curling Club, entering – and winning – many bonspiels. As a young man, Bill enjoyed and excelled at all sports and carried this love into his later years. Golf, however, became his passion from working part-time at Deerhurst Resort as a Starter and Marshal, to playing throughout the week into his early 90s. And not only did he sink several holes in ones, he managed to land two in one week!

As well as sports, Bill had a talent for building which included anything from furniture to cars. He built a sailboat in his Markham garage, proudly sailing it on family camping trips and the annual summer holiday on Jack Lake. Bill was a loving husband, caring father and doting grandfather. His cheery enthusiasm and quick wit endeared him to all he knew and he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

Bill’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff on the memory care floor of Douglas Crossing for their kind loving care of Bill over the last two years, especially during the last weeks.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge on Tuesday August 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM with visitation one hour prior.  Reception to follow.  Friends are invited to express condolences or make donations to Canadian Cancer SocietyHospice Huntsville or the Alzheimer Society by visiting www.lowandlow.ca.

We were so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. We have fond memories of curling with your Mom and Dad, especially at the annual bonspiel in Elora. They were both such special people who enjoyed life and were especially proud of their family. May he rest in peace.
