Widespread power outage affecting Huntsville area

Power outages from early this morning (Wednesday, Sept. 22) continue to affect residents from Huntsville to Sundridge.

Both Hydro One and Lakeland Power reported widespread outages in the area.

A media spokesperson for Hydro One said that the early-morning outage, which began at 2:24 a.m. was caused by a pole fire along Hwy 11. Crews are assessing the damage, with restoration time still pending.

There are 7,834 Hydro One customers without power in Huntsville, Burk’s Falls, Sundridge, and Stirling Falls. Lakeland Power is reporting more than 6,000 customers without power in the same areas.

Update: Power was restored to most resident by noon on Sept. 22.
