The Huntsville Theatre Company (HTC) is back at Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area for their second show of 2019! Never Kiss a Naughty Nanny is a lively comedy from Michael Parker, the playwright of last year’s hit show Sex Please, We’re Sixty!
Director Dan Vanderveer said he is excited to see how the audiences will react to the characters and dynamics between them.
“Comedy and farce are not the easiest of themes to present, but this cast delivers. Their dedication to portraying their characters as real people bring a depth to the play that makes the situations even funnier. With a small cast, there are no lead parts but a sharing of the responsibility to display their part of the story,” said Vanderveer.
The plot unfolds when a builder, desperate to unload an over-automated ‘Home of the Future’ with gadgets that do not always work as they should, makes a last ditch effort to sell the house. A maintenance man works secretly behind the scenes to make sure the ‘gadgets’ keep working. When he is discovered, he has to be disguised as a Nanny. Add to this a clumsy chef and a stranded traveler and the fun ensues!
The cast consists of Jayne Drinkwater, Sally McClelland, Cydney Jones, Derek Shelly, Dustin Whitcomb, Chuck McClelland and Drew Hutcheson.
Opening night is Thursday, Apr. 11, 2019 and the show runs until Sunday, Apr. 14, 2019. There are three evening performances at 7:30pm and two matinees at 2pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.huntsvilletheatre.org or at Castle Antiques in downtown Huntsville.
“This light hearted farce hits everyone’s funny bone. After this winter of snow and more snow, we all need a good laugh and Never Kiss a Naughty Nanny delivers,” said Vanderveer. “This comedy will have you laughing long after the final curtain.”
