West Street North parking to be restricted to west side only

After several complaints about parking on West Street North, usually during busy summer events, Town of Huntsville staff have recommended limiting parking on the narrow street to just one side.

In August, staff were directed by Huntsville’s General Committee to review the concerns of local residents. Staff determined that under the Town’s Parking Restrictions/Expansions Policy, West Street North qualifies for parking on one side of the street.

At the November 29 General Committee meeting, staff presented a report which noted that cars parked on both sides of West Street North during events at River Mill Park or downtown restrict traffic flow enough to impede safe passage of emergency vehicles.

Committee agreed that parking should be limited to the west side of West Street North from Dara Howell Way to North Street. Signs will be installed to ensure drivers are aware of the change.

What about west street south when they have the triathelons , last year there were cars on both sides of the street all the way up past florence st . Also nothing was policed i saw a woman yelling at my neighbour because she was parked half way across his driveway and she thought he was going to hit her, she was also parked half way across our driveway, very inconsiderate.
