The winner of F.C. Hammond Well Drilling’s annual well draw – which gives one customer back the cost of their new well – decided to spread the goodwill a bit further with donations to two local charities.
Jonathan Wolfe’s invoice was the lucky one drawn earlier this year, earning him back the $10,000 cost of his new well. He plans to turn over 10 per cent of his winnings – $500 each – to Hospice Huntsville and The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation. They were charities recommended by a friend and he agreed that they were good choices.
Wolfe says he was surprised to get the call. “We were just happy to get the well. Everyone that comes, I ask them if they want to try the good water. My wife gets tired of it but it tastes so good,” he laughs.
F.C. Hammond co-owner, Norm Yearley, says it’s amazing that the winners of recent draws have been donating a portion back to the community. “It all just started from a free well.”
This is the eighth year that company owners Norm and Jeff Yearley have given one of their customers from the previous year back the cost of their well. Wolfe’s was one of 105 wells drilled by the company last year. It’s a fun way for the company to give back and kick off a new year.
