On Sunday, May 25, more than 120 people gathered at Memorial Park in Bracebridge to take part in the 2025 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s.
Together, they raised over $45,000 and counting, to support the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka and its local programs for people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias in Muskoka and Parry Sound.
Following opening ceremonies led by Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney and ASM’s Board President Rick Hallam, participants walked through downtown Bracebridge to remember and honour those whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in our community.
Participants then enjoyed lunch provided by the Lion’s Club, Domino’s Pizza and other local sponsors. The event also included a variety of games, custom jewelry by Jibe and music from Country 102.3.
The day wrapped up with prizes and recognition of the hard work of volunteers and participants in creating a memorable event.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who took part, whether by walking, donating, or simply showing up to support,” said Norma Alford. “This walk is about building a compassionate, dementia-friendly future for all of us. The money raised here stays here, supporting people in our own communities. For our family, friends, neighbours and yes, for our future selves”.
Funds from the Walk go directly toward local services, including carepartner support, dementia education, recreational programs, and social programs for people navigating a new diagnosis.
Most services are provided at no cost to families in Muskoka and Parry Sound. The campaign is still underway, with the Walk already reaching over 75% of its $50,000 fundraising goal.
The Alzheimer Society of Muskoka encourages anyone interested to contribute and help make a lasting difference for local families. If you have not yet had the chance to give, or have been waiting for the right moment, please consider donating to the Bracebridge Walk at www.walkforalzheimers.ca.

My husband was diagnosed with advanced dementia at 55; he would hallucinate and have conversations with who he was seeing. Last year he turned 64 and was no longer able to walk; his speech was becoming impaired. The doctor prescribed Seroquel. It helped, but not for long. Around January this year we started him on the Neuro x program that was introduced to us by his primary care doctor. The treatment has significantly alleviated his symptoms, outperforming the prescribed medications. Almost all his symptoms are gone, there are no signs of agitation, the hallucinations have totally stopped, and his memory loss has greatly improved. He’s able to speak clearly and walk down the street and back since starting the program; even his sleep patterns are back to normal. We got the neuro x treatment from uine healthcentre . ne t. We feel very fortunate to have learned about this treatment. I am absolutely confident that this program offers a viable solution, and I hope someone finds it helpful.
