A 19-year-old has been fined and banned from driving after pleading guilty to an impaired driving offence in Bracebridge court.
Cameron Blair, 19, entered a guilty plea to operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
Court heard that on Sept. 20, 2025, at approximately 3:33 a.m., police were called to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Falcon Road in the Town of Huntsville.
Officers attended the scene and detected an odour of alcohol on the driver. A roadside alcohol screening test was conducted, which registered 167 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood — more than double the legal limit.
The court also heard Blair was a suspended driver at the time of the incident.
He was fined $2,000 and handed a one-year driving prohibition.

I don’t understand why so many of the DUI fines and consequences are so low. But it is even more surprising to me to see people that have multiple infractions and in this case are suspended from driving, and they are still drinking and driving on our roads As far as I am concerned, the first infraction is one thing, but if you get caught a second time, the consequences need to be much stronger. If you have an accident while driving under the influnce, it is very possible that you also could have killed an innocent person. Once you know innocent people that have been killed in these circumstances, it is appalling to see such leniency.
